In a randomized study of 109 young adults, researchers measured cortisol responses, skin conductance signals, and risk-taking during the Iowa Gambling Task after an acute psychosocial stressor. Cortisol reactivity altered how anticipatory bodily signals related to risky choices in men, although the stress condition did not increase overall risk-taking.
