Researchers found that the distance the eye travels during a rapid gaze shift changes post-saccadic visual sensitivity by altering the spatial-frequency information carried by retinal luminance transients. Larger saccades preferentially enhanced lower-frequency, coarser visual information, while very small saccades could increase the relative visibility of finer, higher-frequency information.
