Diabetes Prevention and Management – According to Diabetes Journallifestyle intervention is the most cost-effective strategy to prevent type 2 diabetes. However, there have been few well-designed studies in rural settings that have shown successful intervention in improving awareness and lifestyle. The purpose of this community-based program is to 1) assess the prevalence of type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes and 2) evaluate the effectiveness of a non-pharmacological lifestyle intervention, aimed at reducing risk and improving disease self-management. The Diabetes Prevention and Management program will increase awareness and help with self-management of diabetes.

Tobacco Cessations – Cessation from smoking is a long and arduous journey for many smokers, even though for a majority of the time, the smoker is not actively attempting to quit. Thus, there are multiple opportunities to enhance cessation success rates at many points of the smoker’s journey. However, there is substantial room to improve the overall cessation outcome rate through strengthening and developing policies that support a comprehensive smoking cessation care management system that addresses each and every step in the process from current smoker to abstinence.

Weight Reduction and Management – Weight management involves adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes a knowledge of nutrition and exercise, a positive attitude and the right kind of motivation. Internal motives such as better health, increased energy, self-esteem and personal control increase your chances of lifelong weight management success. At DPAC, we help with exercise tips, eating habits, and so much more to help you see a reduction in weight without ever realizing.

Stress Reduction – “Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it.” – Jane Wagner  According to the American Diabetes Association, stress management training is associated with a small but significant reduction in A1C. Compliance with the treatment regimen decreased over time but was similar to that seem in patients receiving stress management for other reasons in the clinic. Trait anxiety (a measure of stable individuals differences in anxiety proneness) did not predict response to treatment, showing the highly anxious patients did not derive more benefit from training. Our program is designed to implement stress reliever ideas, exercise, and activities that help to reduce stress.

Active Lifestyle – Let us help you to get moving!! Being active is an important part of being healthy. Sure, it helps you to lose weight, but it does more than that. It gets your heart rate up, burns calories, strengthens your muscles and bones, lowers blood sugar, lowers cholesterol, improves mood, and so much more.
